Garrison Keillor

Renowned American author, storyteller, and radio personality, best known as the creator and former host of A Prairie Home Companion (1974–2016). He is famous for his "News from Lake Wobegon" monologues and has authored numerous books.

Herbert reaches Garrison Keillor through Derek Jensen, who runs a restaurant in Rochester, MN that Keillor has frequented over the years. As Derek tells it: the first time he noticed Keillor in the restaurant, he was dining with friends. After several visits, Derek finally worked up the courage to introduce himself — and Keillor returned many times, often dining alone. It has been a delight for Derek simply to have conversations with him.
