Larry K. Graham

American pastoral theologian, known above all for arguing that pastoral care cannot stop at the individual — it must engage the social systems that create suffering in the first place. His book Care of Persons, Care of Worlds (1992) made this case in a way that reoriented the field. He taught at Iliff School of Theology in Denver.

Why Herbert Would Be Delighted

Graham's argument that pastoral care is inherently political — that tending to suffering requires changing the conditions that cause it — is a natural extension of Herbert's own pastoral theology, which has always moved between the intimate and the institutional.
