Jeff Smith, known as the Frugal Gourmet – a United Methodist minister who became one of the most popular TV chefs of the 1980s and 1990s. His show aired on PBS and he wrote several bestselling cookbooks.
The minister-to-chef pipeline is a connection Herbert would appreciate. Met in Seattle, when Herbert was one of the ministers on the staff of St. Mark’s Cathedral.
